The first gay man to voluntarily reveal himself to the Sudanese population was the artist Ahmed Umar. It resulted in an extensive discussion on social media, and revealed just as much curiosity as uproar from a culture that ferociously condemn homosexuality. When Ahmed came out, Ibrahim had the opportunity to confront his own homophobia and together with Ahmed they came to terms with a society that would see them as “sinners”.
