SYNOPSIS
*In the presence of the director and producers
A group of friends pool their money to pay for Etienne’s first sexual experience. Their journey to see a sex worker is accompanied by swaggering teenage conversations and sensitive inner monologues. In these moments, not only are their inner fears and desires revealed to the audience, but so are the destinies reserved for them, like the day they will die or whom they will marry.
Inspired by his own experiences when he was a teenager, George Barbari’s debut is a poetic take on the ritual of coming-of-age and manhood. The film explores the construction of male identities and the performance of masculinities in how different understandings of gender can impact their own individuality.
