Queer Archive-making As Resistance

Archive-making within an institutional framework is often biased, and often glosses over elements that exist on the margins. Queer people, and particularly those from the SWANA region, have often been left out or relegated to footnotes in mainstream, institutional archives.
Recently, academics, artists, archivists, and historians have used their respective mediums to create an alternative, queer reading of Arab history, which challenges the dominant narrative. This panel will explore how such informal practices are a form of resistance and protest that reframe history.
