Alyssa is restless and determined to escape the dead ends of everyday life. Mehdi, more reserved, dreams of making a name for himself as an artist in Tunisia. Best friends in their early twenties, they set off across the desert when they hear about an art competition on the island of Djerba. What begins as a road movie becomes a coming-of-age journey through their hopes, frustrations and the possibility of change. In this assured debut feature, Amel Guellaty captures a young Maghreb generation caught between inherited traditions and the desire to imagine a different future.
